Butterfly 5K Run/Walk

Join the migration of human butterflies happening on June 21st, 2025!
Put your best butterfly costume on for a scenic 5K Run / Walk along the Umpqua River in Elkton.
Registration is just $30 and if you register before May 31st you are guaranteed a FREE tank top, so be sure to register early! Kids 12 and under are invited to run the 5K this year for free or join a short 1/4 mile loop through the park! Run or walk at your own pace, then come back to get lunch, enjoy the Blooms & Butterflies Festival and enter the butterfly costume contest. There will be prizes for the fastest male and female for runners 12 and under, 13-40, and 41+ awarded during the butterfly costume contest at 11:15.
This year’s Butterfly Run is organized by ECEC’s AmeriCorps RARE Member and AmeriCorps / NCCC team!
Enjoy free kids’ activities, live music, craft vendors, information booths, food, and tours of Butterfly Pavillion and Fort Umpqua throughout the day. Join us for a full day of festivities and help us kick off the season at ECEC!
THE COURSE
The course starts at ECEC’s Native Plant Park, follows River Road through town, crosses Elk Creek, and ends back at ECEC. Run or walk along the banks of the Umpqua River then enjoy yoga, live music, craft vendors and more the rest of the day with friends and family at the Blooms & Butterflies festival.

- Register online (Register day of go-to steps 2 & 3)
- Go to the check-in table and confirm your name and age and pick up a race number
- Wear your butterfly wings and RUN
- Enjoy a drop in yoga class to cool down when you get back to ECEC
- Runner awards and costume contest 11:15 at (must be present to win)
